My name is Scott and I am 36 years old.
I started working in an office environment, this meant I sat on my butt for most of the day. Prior to this I had worked several jobs that kept me moving and always active, from production to mechanic. But since transitioning in to the office environment I took for granted how active I was before, because of this I began to put on weight. Not only did I put on weight I also began to loose the muscle mass I had gained from doing these jobs. I have never been a super ripped guy, but I could lift and move what I needed to. In 2015 I began to experience lower back pain, and for the first time in my life I had my back lock up. After going to the chiropractor and having several adjustments I said that I had had enough. The reason I was having these problems was because my ‘core’, abdominal and lower back muscles, had become weak. They told me I would continue to have issues like this if I didn’t strengthen my trunk, ‘core’. On a side note, I do not like the work 'core', trunk is a better term in my opinion. The chiropractor send me home with several body weight exercises that I could do and some with a small resistance band. I thought about what had happened and the underlying reasons why it had happened, ultimately the changes in my work life were the reasons. I wasn’t going to the gym and I wasn’t doing regular physical activity, this needed to change.
